Progress Speaks... Principles Matter

 

Issues that Carolyn has fought for as the current BESE member:

 

• Responsible/Accountable - Education Reform for our children, educators and schools

 

• Quality education and equitable resources for all children

 

• Opposed Common Core Implementation        

 

• Advocated for an increase in funding for Public School Districts and Educators

 

• Supported community-oriented school choice initiatives

 

 

  Carolyn's Vision for Education in Louisiana:

 

• Reformed Policies - Reviewing of policies that are parallel with the actual law that have been passed, to assure that those law are in compliance with federal and state laws.

     

• A progressive future for all of Louisiana children - by assuring equitable accountability for all students, educators and school districts. Example Charter Schools, TFA and Labeling of school with letter grades

 

•  Accountable parental choice - to the extent that the law provides for it, without misrepresentation or improper funding reallocation, that families will have access to quality education services regardless of their income, a student zip code, and/or academic ability.
